Aafedt Forde Elects Two New Class A Shareholders

Aafedt Forde, one of the leading insurance defense firms in the Upper Midwest, is pleased to announce that James Connor and Elisa Murillo have been named Class A Shareholders. James (Jamey) and Elisa embody the qualities of shareholders and leaders with a strong passion to help others succeed and a commitment to excellence in serving clients, which strengthens the firm’s core practice areas.

Jamey received his B.A. degree in Entrepreneurship from the University of St. Thomas in 2003 and his Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas in 2007. He started his law career representing plaintiffs, then moved to an in-house position with Liberty Mutual Insurance for a number of years, before joining Aafedt Forde as an associate in 2013. Jamey brings to his practice a wealth of experience and perspective from all aspects of the workers' compensation system. Jamey has successfully litigated and/or negotiated hundreds of workers' compensation claims involving all manner of disputes for both claimants and defendants, but his greatest satisfaction comes from building and maintaining effective working relationships with his clients in the business and insurance communities. His practice focuses on the defense of employers and insurers in workers’ compensation litigation.

Elisa received her B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2003 and her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law in 2008. Elisa is fluent in Spanish and is admitted to practice in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the United States District Court of Minnesota. She has handled litigated matters involving tort claims in district, appellate and federal courts in Minnesota. She has also handled jury trials in district court. Historically, she has worked in civil litigation since entering law school, in both plaintiff and defense firms in the Twin Cities metro area. She has handled cases involving no-fault arbitrations, workers compensation and civil liability, appearing on behalf of plaintiffs, defendants, and third-parties. Elisa works collaboratively in multi-party matters involving injuries, on behalf of employers, insurers, and third-party administrators. She also handles subrogation claims on behalf of employers and insurers to recover workers’ compensation benefits. In addition to litigation work in these fields, Elisa has participated in multi-party alternative dispute resolutions in Minnesota and Wisconsin, obtaining successful outcomes on behalf of her clients.

The firm is honored to welcome Elisa and Jamey to the Class A shareholder team, and are confident in their ability to advocate for Aafedt Forde’s clients with continued success.
